Your result for The Heart Test...

Hero's Heart

You are 80% Independent, 70% Idealistic, 40% Intimate, and 70% Indulgent!

The Hero's Heart

Independent, Idealistic, Passionate, Indulgent

You are the most gallant of hearts, the Hero's Heart. You stand tall on your own, and hold high ideals of love and romance, valuing harmony and closeness with a mate, but are passionate and fiery - a true knight in shining armor, looking for your prince/princess and more than willing to beat down the dragon to get them. You may not feel the need to be loved, as you enjoy your heroic quests, but you do hope to someday find your damsel/gentlemen in distress, rescue them, and go riding into a happily ever after.

Matches for the Hero's Heart:

The Slave to Emotions

The Slave to Emotions is idealistic and values harmony as you do, but is more intimate, something you can greatly understand, and craves love more. Being an idealist, you can appreciate such a person, and being the hero that you are, desire to be the one to break their emotional chains and set them free by making them feel loved, which is what the Slave desires above all other things. You will get great satisfaction from rescuing the Slave from their bindings.

The Lonely Heart

The Lonely Heart needs to be loved, and being a hero, you will be able to see through their harder outward appearance to see the true intimate and caring person inside. Lonely Hearts crave love, and though they are more practical than you are, you will greatly admire their differences and feel a true bond with them.

Your exact opposite is Broken Heart.

Avoid Explicits when possible. You value harmony and closeness, and don't want that to be disrupted. Also avoid Independents, as you would feel more comfortable being the rescuer, and might not feel a connection with someone who is as self-sufficient as you are.

Interesting. Very interesting. The way Carlos 'sees' his soulgaze/Sight may have an actual physical condition attached to it. Synaesthesia.

12.2 - 13 Reasons you do the job you do.

1. Who else would?
2. I'm still holding out for that sponsorship deal.
3. The sense of satisfaction when you give someone peace - be it after an exorcism, finding a lost kid, or whatever
4. Helping someone realise they have magic in them, and watching their face light up. It never gets old.
5. If I don't stand up and fight, who will? The vamps would then have free reign to feed on whoever they want.
6. I get to see the world for free.
7. Boys and their toys. Most normal people get their gadgets, I get the latest wizardly toys.
8. That pesky little sense of responsibility. Even at 26, I'm hit by it.
9. I get to spend time with that cute goth girl in Chicago.
10. It's a great way to impress people, even though I shouldn't. Who cares?
11. Who else understands what wizards go through apart from other wizards? It's like a giant club house at times.

13. Honestly, at the end of the day? Magic is cool.

You can't help getting older, but you don't have to get old

It’s the big family gatherings that are the hardest. My family is large – both my parents have four brothers and sisters each, and I’m the youngest of six. That adds up to an awful lot of nieces and nephews and cousins and whatever the hell comes after that.

The hard part is when I look around and see them all. Knowing that I’ll outlive each and every one of them. Not conceit. Fact.

You see, I’m a wizard. I’d say look me up in the phone book, but that’s actually a friend’s schtick. I tend not to advertise that way. The one thing about wizards is their life expectancy. Long doesn’t even really come close. Assuming I don’t die in this war we’re fighting – which is always a possibility, given how much time I spend on the front lines, I can expect to live around five hundred years, give or take a decade or two.

I’m twenty six now.

It’s all to do with how our cells work. Most people, when their cells renew after an injury, they degrade. Not with wizards. When their cells replicate, they produce a nearly perfect copy. Entropy eventually catches up on them, but not for a long time. So, long life.

That’s not to say I haven’t aged. Considering all I’ve been through, it’s not really surprising. War ages anyone, especially when you end up injured. Some of my family notice it, though they don’t say anything. To do that, they’d have to admit the danger in my life.

Instead, my nephews settle for pushing me into the water and watching me laugh at them. Memories that will last no matter how long I live.

11.1 13 reasons you have to get out of bed.

1. I'm late for another shift at the restaurant.
2. My grandmother made me take her shopping.
3. Family get togethers. Nothing more important. Except when your nephews hammer on your door at 8am, demanding Uncle Carlos come show them some magic.
4. Harry's on the phone, asking me to help watch his backside in Chicago - again.
5. Vampires have taken a Warden prisoner. Gotta get him back, dead or alive.
6. Exorcisms won't wait till a decent hour of the day.
7. Nor will hunting down lost kids.
8. Morgan rings up, telling me to get to some place or another yesterday - they've got information on the position of the Red King.
9. As much as I want to, I can't miss a Council Meeting. Even if it means leaving early to get to Chicago.
10. Time to chat up Elaine Mallory again.
11. Dreams of the Trailman twins haunt me.
12. So do the faces of all the dead warlocks.
13. It's a beautiful morning. One of those 'not to be wasted' days.

1 Magic doesn’t run in my family.
2 I chose to become a Warden, but some days, I’m not sure if I made the right choice.
3 I do what I do to protect those I love, my family and friends.
4 Every time a warlock is executed in front of me, I have to fight the urge to save them.
5 My confidence is an effective facade. My mentor always told me ‘smile at your enemies, Carlos. It confuses the hell out of them’.
6 I’m getting fed up of ending up injured when I’m around Harry Dresden. I mean, how many times do you need to end up in hospital?
7 I take what I do seriously. Security, training, fighting vamps in a duel? I’ll give my all, no question.
8 The coolest thing I’ve ever done? Ridden a T-Rex into battle.
9 Instead of ‘seeing’ in soulgazes, I get a lot of music, with very little imagery. It was confusing to get them that way at first, but now music tells me so much.
10 I’m the youngest ever Regional Commander of the Wardens there has ever been. While it’s great that it’s me, the fact I made it at 23 tells you how badly the war is going.
11 If it’s female and is human, I’ll flirt with it. The prettier the better. I avoid ghouls and vamps though.
12 [locked]I’m a 26 year old virgin.[/locked]
13 [locked] I might have a small case of hero-worship with regards to Harry, but I’ll never admit it in public.[/locked]

You are The Sun

Happiness, Content, Joy.

The meanings for the Sun are fairly simple and consistent.

Young, healthy, new, fresh. The brain is working, things that were muddled come clear, everything falls into place, and everything seems to go your way.

The Sun is ruled by the Sun, of course. This is the light that comes after the long dark night, Apollo to the Moon's Diana. A positive card, it promises you your day in the sun. Glory, gain, triumph, pleasure, truth, success. As the moon symbolized inspiration from the unconscious, from dreams, this card symbolizes discoveries made fully consciousness and wide awake. You have an understanding and enjoyment of science and math, beautifully constructed music, carefully reasoned philosophy. It is a card of intellect, clarity of mind, and feelings of youthful energy.

Not only would the Western-raised wizard and Eastern-raised wizard perceive things according to the cultural biases and subjective experiences, they might not even perceive them with the same /senses/.

The Third Sight is different for everyone, subjective, and inherently slanted towards ones own experiences and background. So while two wizards might look on some totally-gone, bloodthirsty warlock and see a bloodthirsty warlock, they might see it in very different ways.

Maybe Harry looks on him and sees some Hannibal-Lectery figure crouched on the floor grinning and soaked in blood. But maybe Ancient Mai looks on him and sees a bare, twisted white tree in the center of an unbroken field of white snow, representative of the individual's loss of spirit and humanity. And maybe Rodriguez looks at him and hears some kind of hideous music that accompanies the individual and makes the hair on the back of Carlos' neck stand up. Maybe Klaus the Toymaker looks at them and sees that his head is covered in cracks and flaws, and that underneath the parts where the flesh looks chipped away, something rotten and horrible is underneath. Maybe Listens-to-Wind looks on the warlock and smells something rotted and vile.

It's way different for each wizard, and it's why even though soulgazes and third sight can be used as evidence in, for example, warlock trials, there is also room for argument and interpretation--that's how Ebenezar defended Dresden, for example. He claimed that he Saw more than just "murdering warlock."

Plus, it isn't flawless. I mean, if a wizard looks at someone who has just suffered some kind of horrible physical or emotional injury, he gets a much different picture of that person than if he sees them a week sooner, or a year later. If a wizard looks on someone who is in a towering rage at the moment, it's going to have an effect on what is Seen. Maybe not an enormous effect, true, but at times even a little bit of difference in shading can change the overall picture. Oh, plus if the /Wizard/ is in a radically altered state of mind, it can shade things differently, too.

Ultimately, the Sight is something that is best relied upon for making one's own decisions, for supporting one's intuitions and observations--as long as one remembers that while it is always true, it isn't always completely correct. Circumstance can, at tmes, effect what is Seen.

Taken from the forums on the Jim Butcher website. And yes, he does mean Ramirez, not Rodriguez - it's not the first time he has said that by accident.
